This tranquil village, in a lovely secluded valley setting, with a population of approximately 400 inhabitants is situated at 579 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda mountains.
There is very good access on tarmacked roads to the Village and there is a daily bus service to the neighbouring villages in the area as well as to Malaga (65 km away) and Velez-Malaga. Two mountain rivers, Rio Salares and Rio de la Fuente irrigate the varied crops on the green fertile hillsides around the town.
